Master Velofos and the Magic Books: As a Warlock who has learned Release, talk to Master Velofos in the Geffen Magic Archive (geffen_in, 176,105). Choose 'Can I have a Magic Book?' and then 'Sure thing.': he only keeps beginner books, so he sends you to Lea in the archive to borrow better ones. You must be a Warlock (not a baby class) and know Release. His other questions only explain Magic Books and the Freezing Spell, nothing is lost by asking. Lea (geffen_in, 175,112) lends the books for a deposit: 100,000 zeny for Intermediate (Storm Gust, Lord of Vermilion, Meteor Storm) or 500,000 zeny for Superior (Drain Life, Jack Frost, Earth Strain, Crimson Rock, Chain Lightning), one of each kind at a time. Items: Spell Book(Storm Gust) and so on. The deposit is only a loan.
Master Velofos: -
The Ultimate Magic Book: From base level 140, with Comet or Tetra Vortex learned, ask Lea (geffen_in, 175,112) for the Ultimate Magic Book. She has never seen it and sends you back to Master Velofos. Choose 'I want the Ultimate Magic Books.' You need the level and one of the two skills, otherwise she tells you to practise longer.
Lea: -
Velofos' brother: Go to Master Velofos (geffen_in, 176,105), choose 'About the Ultimate Magic Book' and answer that Ms. Lea sent you. He tells you of his brother Galfos, who studies the ancient Magic Books near the Expedition Camp beyond the Dimensional Rift. It is a long trip: Galfos stays in the Expedition Camp of Midgard.
-
Galfos wants a test subject: Find Galfos in the Expedition Camp (mid_camp, 255,244) and tell him Velofos sent you. He has restored the spells but needs an artifact to bind them into the book and asks you to search the archive of El Dicastes for it. He talks only to Warlocks of base level 140 or more who know Comet or Tetra Vortex.
Galfos: -
The mysterious documents: In the El Dicastes archive, wear the Ring of the Ancient Wise King and read the container of old documents (dic_in01, 25,190). It holds records of magic, acceleration and particle waves, exactly what Galfos needs. You need to have finished the El Dicastes invitation (the Dicastes story) and have the ring equipped.
Mysterious Documents: -
Lava essence (for Comet): Read the documents again and again (the same container, dic_in01 25,190). Each reading has a 1 in 10 chance of showing the lava method, and it only counts if you know Comet. The method tells you to refine 40 Burning Hearts on the hottest spot of the second floor of Thor's Volcano (thor_v02, 163,104). Use the energy there with the hearts in your bag. The refining fails half the time and eats the hearts. Only the Comet book needs this essence. One reading in ten makes you sick instead: wait a while before you read again. Reward: Lava Essence (permanent).
Powerful Lava Energy: -
Flame essence (for Tetra Vortex): With Tetra Vortex learned, keep reading until the flame method shows. Refine 10 Live Coals at the stable ground on the first floor of Thor's Volcano (thor_v01, 185,91). The refining fails half the time; try again with a fresh set. Reward: Flame Essence (permanent).
Powerful Flame Energy: -
Glacier essence: Find the glacier method in the documents. Refine 10 Glacial Hearts in the deepest part of the Ice Cave (ice_dun03, 137,148). Same 50 % chance as the others. Reward: Glacier Essence (permanent).
Powerful Glacier Energy: -
Fossil essence: Find the fossil method and refine 10 Jubilees at the old rocks on the second floor of the Mine Dungeon (ein_dun02, 181,124). Same 50 % chance as the others. Reward: Fossil Essence (permanent).
Powerful Fossil Energy: -
Storm essence: Find the storm method and refine 10 Denture from Dragon Mask at the Hermit's Checkerboard in Kunlun (gon_dun02, 252,198). Same 50 % chance as the others. Reward: Storm Essence (permanent).
- Galfos forges the book: Take the essences back to Galfos (mid_camp, 255,244). For Comet you need the Lava Essence, for Tetra Vortex all four others. He asks for 500,000 zeny for his tools, then makes you the Spell Book(Comet) or the Spell Book(Tetra Vortex). You may come back for the other book; the essences stay. He will not make a book you already hold. The Intermediate and Superior loans are not tracked by the guide. Reward: Spell Book(Comet) or Spell Book(Tetra Vortex).
