Memorial dungeon
A giant in a cave, and villagers who know where it hurts.
A giant monster called Buwaya has been carrying villagers off from the Port Malaya fields. The guard at the cave asks for a party to put an end to it. Inside there is one real fight, against the Buwaya MVP, and a trap that you have to handle on a clock.

How to go

  1. Be level 130 or higher and in a party. Under 130 the Guard sends you away. Without a party he tells you to come back with a team.
  2. The leader reserves it. The party leader talks to the Guard and picks I'm here to hunt down Buwaya. Other party members only get "let me talk with the party leader".
  3. Everyone walks onto the Cave Entrance and picks Enter. A map announcement tells the field which party began the hunt.
Entering sets the quest Devil in the Cave. While it is active, both the Guard and the Cave Entrance say "Buwaya is still hiding" and turn you away. It runs until 04:00 server time. So you cannot come back in after leaving, and you get one run a day.

Inside the cave

You wake up in the cave next to the exit at (35, 57). The big cave floor is full of monsters before the fight even starts:
  • about 57
    Seaweed
(they have 10 HP) and 43
    Buwaya's Egg
    spread over six areas,
  • 5 more Seaweed and 5
    Slave
    placed anywhere on the map.
The real
Buwaya
stands near the middle. The fight has three moving parts that run on their own timers.

The treasure-box trap

About 30 seconds into the run (and then every 35 seconds) Buwaya shouts "I will put you in my treasure box!" and nine pillars of light mark the arena. About four seconds later everyone still standing in the arena is pulled into a small room at (33, 112): the box.
The floor of the box room hurts. It flickers on and off every second, and each hit takes 10 % of your HP and SP and puts Bleeding and Poison on you for 60 seconds. Get out of it fast.
  1. Talk to the captured villager on the left (29, 110). He points at the walls, and two "Weakpoints" appear at (30, 118) and (35, 118). They have 20 HP each. Those two cells can be hit by ranged attacks.
  2. Kill both Weakpoints. The exit at (33, 118) opens. Touching it warps you to a random spot in the arena, so you land back in the fight.
  3. The villager on the right (36, 110) gives a buff once: ATK +45 and MATK +45 for 60 seconds.
The villagers come back each time the trap goes off.

Buwaya's clones

A little before the one-minute mark Buwaya starts shouting a line, ending with "This is... MY... Deadly... ATTACK!". At about 65 seconds four copies of
Buwaya
(30,000 HP each, no drops) appear in the four corners of the arena. If you leave them, they disappear after about 40 seconds. When all four die, or the time runs out, the next wave starts about 65 seconds later.

The exit stays guarded

Near the exit at (43 to 47, 58 to 60) the cave spawns Seaweed and Buwaya's Eggs every minute: 10 of each while fewer than 30 are alive, otherwise 1 of each. A long fight means a crowded exit.

When Buwaya dies

All the timers stop and the Guard's voice announces "You did great work. Please hurry up and escape to the way you came in!". The exit at (28, 57) asks if you want to leave and sends you back to the field at (315, 315).

Rewards

The cave itself hands out nothing: the loot is the boss's own drops (rates are on the monster page):
On top of that comes a guaranteed Ancient Grudge, and the MVP reward Old Purple Box with a 55 % chance. Buwaya is level 151 with about 4,090,000 HP.

Notes

  • The cave is part of the "Secret in the Woods" quest in the official game. The steps of that quest are not on this page.
  • The clone and trap timers run on their own, so a slow party may see them overlap.
