Airship Assault

A level 125 solo run from the Dimensional Rift: clear three floors of an airship, beat a wyvern, then bring down the mad Captain Ferlock for a one-time EXP prize and his armor set.

A flying ship, a rune engine, and a captain who has lost his mind.
Loki, Fenrir and Iris are on the deck of an airship when something goes wrong. Iris asks how a ship like this flies at all. The answer is steam, a Rune Engine and a stone called the Tear of Ymir. Then a wyvern lands, Gremlins pour out of it, and a sorceress named Arcana puts on an "airborne monster show". The only way to stop it is to fight down through the ship and back up to the deck.

How to go

  1. Stand at the Dimensional Device in the Dimensional Rift. You must be level 125 or more and be in a party. Only the leader gets in.
  2. Pick "Power Up the Device". This creates the instance.
  3. Pick "Use the Device". You arrive on the airship deck at (244, 73).
Going in sets two quests: "Assault on the Airship", which ends at the next 04:00 server time, and a short one that lasts 5 minutes. For those first 5 minutes the Device lets you back into the same run. After that, and until 04:00, it turns you away with "cannot be reentered within 23 hours". The "23 hours" in that line is wrong: the wait ends at 04:00.

Floor by floor

Each floor is one wave of 30 monsters. When the last one falls, a map line announces the way on and a warp opens.

The warps on floor 2, at (103, 200) and (103, 176), take you into the engine room. Talking to Iris starts the third wave. Flames break out around the engine, but they are only an effect and do not hurt you.
The two Acidus on the list are different monsters with the same name: the Dark one on floor 3 and the Wind one on floor 2.

The deck: wyvern and Captain

Back on the deck, talk to Fenrir at (229, 54). The three Guardian Heroines, Shiva, Basara and Laksmi, show up for a short and silly scene. Then the Wywern appears at (235, 49) (that is how the game spells it): level 117, 300,000 HP, Dragon, Dark, and no experience.
When it dies, talk to Iris at (232, 51). The ship's captain, Captain Ferlock, is out of control and appears at (247, 51). He is the MVP of the run: level 130, 3,000,000 HP, Dragon, Dark, with 3,088 base and 2,392 job EXP.
Six seconds after he falls, Chaos appears at (239, 58) with the Captain at (243, 58). Talk to Chaos once. That gives a one-time prize of 100,000 base and 65,000 job EXP and opens the exit at (244, 73), which takes you back to the Dimensional Rift at (137, 82).

Drops

Captain Ferlock:
As the MVP he also gives two separate 50 % rolls: Yggdrasil Berry and Yggdrasil Seed.
The
Wywern
drops Airship Armor at 0.5 %, Dark Red Scale Piece at 5 %, Treasure Box at 0.01 % and Elunium at 0.1 %. The floor monsters carry the airship set (Airship Boots, Airship Manteau, Airship Armor) at 0.5 % and the Airship Raid Card at 0.01 %. See their pages for the full lists.

Notes

  • A party cannot go in together. The Device lets only the leader create and enter, and it says so.
