Time attack
A memory of the past, and a nest full of worms.
A crack in space in the Dimensional Rift leads to a memory of the past where faceworms have taken over. You fight your way through five stages. A timer runs from the moment you enter, and the loot at the end of each stage gets better the faster you are.

How to go

  1. Be level 140 or higher and in a party. The Magic Scholar sends you away without a party.
  2. The leader reserves it. Talk to the Magic Scholar and pick Reserve Faceworm's Nest.
  3. Everyone goes in. Each member touches the Interdimensional Device and enters.
Entering starts a wait that ends at the next 04:00 server time. During it, the Scholar and the Device refuse you. A sign near them, the Old Sign at , shows the best time and who set it. The record is wiped now and then.

The five stages

Every stage works the same way. First you kill the regular
Faceworm
that crawl over the area. When they are all dead, a giant one appears:
Dark Faceworm
. Killing it opens a hole to the next stage. Chaos and Iris, two guides, wait at each stage and talk to you.
  1. Stage 1. The Dark Faceworm heals by absorbing the energy of unbroken
    Faceworm Egg
    around it. Break the eggs.
  2. Stage 2. Balls of water appear around the Dark Faceworm. Kill them.
  3. Stage 3. The Dark Faceworm drops a sack of poison and recovers HP.
    Venom Bug
and poison fill the arena. Chaos warns you to avoid the poison.
  4. Stage 4. Clouds of venom fog drift over the area where the Dark Faceworm lives. An announcement tells you something screams in the west.
  5. Stage 5: the Queen.
    Faceworm Queen
sheds her skin to a new element (an announcement tells you which), and she becomes violent if you pull her too far from the nest. Chaos calls out one of four directions and asks you to lure the Queen there: north, south, east or west. He hits her for a big chunk of her HP when she arrives. She can also come back as the
    Red Faceworm Queen
    .

Rewards

At the end of each of the first four stages there is a treasure box. It holds a piece of snake skin armor (Gigant Snake Skin or Gigant Snake Skin) with a random refine and up to three random enchants. Your clear time sets the odds. Under 2 minutes gives the best chance, and the chance falls with each additional 15 seconds until it bottoms out.
The final stage pays out two such pieces. When the Queen falls, up to 27 hidden Merchant Prince's Boxes can appear around the nest, each with a 50 % chance. They hold jewels and keepsakes: Old Ring, Rusty Bracelet, Old Photo Album, Old Pill and Worn-Out-Scroll, and sometimes an Old Crown, Gold Bullion or Silver Bullion.

The four keepsake quests in Payon

Take the keepsakes to Payon Town. Each of these NPCs buys one, once until the next 04:00 server time, for 70,000 base EXP and 55,000 job EXP. You need to be at least level 140.
