Stats and traits
What every point does.
Every character has six base stats: STR, AGI, VIT, INT, DEX and LUK. A 4th job adds six trait stats: POW, STA, WIS, SPL, CON and CRT. It also has AP, a resource that 4th-job skills spend. This page says where the points come from and what each stat does here. The numbers are the ones the game server uses.

Where the points come from

Status points (base stats)

You start at level 1 with 48 status points. Each level up gives more, and the amount grows as you level. The last ones come at level 200: after that there are no more status points.

Trait points (trait stats)

Trait points start at base level 201, on top of the 7 you get when you change to a 4th job. Every level up gives 3 points, and every 5th level (205, 210, 215 and so on) gives 7.

Free points from job levels

Each job level of a 4th job also gives free points, with no cost. They are different for each job. The table shows the total at the last job level that gives anything.

What a point costs

A base stat starts at 1. Raising a stat from n to n+1 costs 2 + (n - 1) / 10 points below 100 (rounded down), and from 100 up 16 + 4 * ((n - 100) / 5). So low stats are cheap and high ones are not: going from 1 to 99 costs 628 points, and from 1 to 130 costs 1,419. The step from 99 to 100 costs 11 points, from 100 to 101 costs 16.
A trait stat costs 1 point per point, up to 110.

Base stats

Equipment and buffs add to each stat. "Soft DEF" and "soft MDEF" below mean the part of DEF and MDEF that comes from your stats and level, as opposed to the part from equipment.

STR

  • Status ATK +1 per STR with a melee weapon. With a bow, gun or instrument it is +1 per 5 STR, and DEX gives +1 each.
  • Weight limit +30 per STR.

AGI

  • FLEE +1 per AGI.
  • Soft DEF +1 per 5 AGI.
  • Attack speed (ASPD). Both AGI and DEX raise it, and a point of AGI counts for more than a point of DEX.

VIT

  • Max HP +1% per VIT.
  • Soft DEF +1 per 2 VIT, and soft MDEF +1 per 5 VIT.
  • HP recovery: +1 per 5 VIT in each recovery step (every 6 seconds).
  • HP-healing items work 2% better per VIT (for example 100 VIT: they heal 3 times the listed amount).

INT

  • MATK +1.5 per INT (INT plus half of INT).
  • Max SP +1% per INT.
  • SP recovery: +1 per 6 INT in each recovery step (every 8 seconds); from 120 INT, extra on top.
  • Soft MDEF +1 per INT.
  • Shorter variable cast time, together with DEX (see DEX).

DEX

  • HIT +1 per DEX.
  • Status ATK +1 per 5 DEX with a melee weapon (+1 per DEX with a bow, gun or instrument).
  • MATK +1 per 5 DEX, soft MDEF +1 per 5 DEX.
  • Shorter variable cast time. The part of a cast time that can shrink is multiplied by 1 minus the square root of (2 x DEX + INT) divided by 530. At 2 x DEX + INT = 530 the variable part is gone.
  • Attack speed (ASPD), with AGI.

LUK

  • Critical: +0.3 per LUK (the Status window shows whole points, so about +1 per 3 LUK).
  • Perfect Dodge: +1 per 10 LUK.
  • HIT +1 per 3 LUK, FLEE +1 per 5 LUK.
  • Status ATK +1 per 3 LUK and MATK +1 per 3 LUK.

Example, level 200

A character with STR 130, DEX 80 and LUK 50 has Status ATK = 130 + 80 / 5 + 50 / 3 + 200 / 4 = 212 (each part rounded down). In a hit this counts double. With INT 130 the MATK from stats is 130 + 130 / 2 + 80 / 5 + 50 / 3 + 200 / 4 = 277. For the cast time, DEX 100 and INT 100 leave 24.8% of the variable cast time, and DEX 150 with INT 230 leaves none.

The Status window with the Trait Status panel open (it is open by default): the six trait stats on the left, what they give on the right (P.Atk, S.Matk, H.Plus, C.Rate, Res, Mres).
TraitGives
POW+5 Status ATK per POW (it counts double in a hit, so +10 damage points), and +1 P.ATK per 3 POW
SPL+5 MATK per SPL, and +1 S.MATK per 3 SPL
CONHIT +2 and FLEE +2 per CON, P.ATK +1 per 5 CON, S.MATK +1 per 5 CON
STARES +1 per STA, and 5 more for every full 3 STA
WISMRES: the same, for magic
CRTH.PLUS +1 per CRT, C.RATE +1 per 3 CRT
What the new numbers mean:
  • P.ATK is a percent bonus: your physical damage is multiplied by (100 + P.ATK) / 100 after status, weapon and equipment ATK are added up.
  • S.MATK is the same for magic: it adds S.MATK% to your magic damage before the skill's own ratio.
  • RES cuts the physical damage you take by RES / (RES + 400) x 80% (so 80% is the most it can ever remove). It works before DEF. MRES does the same for magic damage.
  • H.PLUS makes the healing of your own heal skills bigger by H.PLUS% (healing items are not affected).
  • C.RATE makes your critical hits stronger: a critical hit does (1.4 + 0.01 x C.RATE) times damage, so every point is +1%.

Example

  • POW: 20 POW on the character above takes Status ATK from 212 to 312 (+100), and adds 6 P.ATK, so +6% physical damage.
  • SPL: 20 SPL raises the MATK from stats from 277 to 377 (+100), and adds 6 S.MATK.
  • STA: 30 STA gives RES 80, which removes 13.3% of physical damage.
  • CRT: 30 CRT gives 10 C.RATE, so critical hits do 1.5 times damage instead of 1.4, and heals are 30% bigger.
  • CON: 20 CON gives +40 HIT, +40 FLEE, +4 P.ATK and +4 S.MATK.
  • WIS: 30 WIS gives MRES 80, the same cut for magic damage.

AP

AP is the resource of the 4th jobs: many 4th-job skills cost AP, the way others cost SP.
Your AP is a text line in the basic info window, under Exp (80 of 200 here). in game
Your AP is a text line in the basic info window, under Exp (80 of 200 here).
  • How much: the most you can have is 200, and it starts at base level 200.
  • How you get it: by using skills. 144 skills give AP when they work, for example Storm Slash gives 2 AP and Servant Weapon gives 6 AP at level 1. It does not refill by itself.
  • How you lose it: you lose all of it when you die, and when you enter a PvP map, a Battleground or a GvG map (a castle only during a siege). You keep it when you log out. After a respawn you start with 0.

Check your own numbers

Press Alt+A (or the Info button of the basic info window) to open the Status window. It lists your base stats and, below them, the trait stats with the trait points you have left, and the six numbers P.ATK, S.MATK, H.PLUS, C.RATE, RES and MRES. Your AP is a text line in the basic info window, under Exp: "AP. 80 / 200" means 80 of 200. The formulas above are the ones the server uses, so you can work out any number you see there.
