Exploring Juperos

A scholar in the Juno library wants Transparent Plates from the Juperos ruins. Bring four different kinds and she tells you four stories, each worth 10,000 base EXP.

Juperos history quest
A researcher with an unfinished thesis, and a ruin that holds the evidence.
Fayruz is writing a thesis about how the ancient city of Juperos fell. It has no evidence yet. You supply it, one plate at a time, and she pays you in stories.

Step by step

  1. Read the thesis first. In the library, look at the Bundle of Files at next to the Scholar. Open the table of contents and read the Preface. That is what lets you talk to her about it. Before that she brushes you off.
  2. Talk to the Scholar. Before you read the thesis she only brushes you off. After it, pick "By any chance..." and ask if she is researching Juperos. Tell her you read "The Fall of Juperos" and that it feels unfinished. She introduces herself and the quest starts. She asks for old documents from Juperos.
  3. Read the Bronze Statue. Go to the Juperos ruins, outside, and find the Bronze Statue at on the map "Outside of the Juperos Ruins". Pick "Investigate". You cannot understand the old writing but you can read the sounds out loud. Do this after the quest has started. If you read it earlier, it does nothing for the quest.
  4. Go back to the Scholar. Tell her about your visit to Juperos. You recite the engraving and she translates it: "Do you wish to see the end of the madness? He is waiting where the three columns were destroyed, where two hundred illusions wander." and "You will see him, the one who was vain and extravagant, with your own eyes at the place where the light passes through." She now asks for any object from that era.
  5. Bring a Transparent Plate. Tell her you found something in Juperos and let her keep the plate. She tells the first story, you get 10,000 base EXP, and the quest log moves on.
  6. Bring a plate of another kind. Each of the next three stories needs a plate of a kind you have not handed in yet. After the second story she is busy translating: talk to her once with nothing to hand in, and she tells you to bring more. The next visit works as normal. The tales are a tragic hero, a horror story, and the last one about a pure-hearted man chosen by the gods. Each pays 10,000 base EXP.
  7. The quest ends after the fourth story. After the last one it is marked complete.

The plates

There are four kinds of Transparent Plate. They all have the same name in the item list, so the page calls them plate 1 to 4 by item id. Each kind drops from its own monster.

All four Dimik live on "Outside of the Juperos Ruins" (juperos_01) and in "Center of Juperos" (jupe_core), where each has 40 spawns. On the outside map there are 10 of the first and 5 of each of the others.
The Scholar keeps a record of which kinds she already has. If you hand in a kind she has, she thanks you and gives you a Gift Box in exchange and takes the plate, but no story. That also happens with every extra plate after the quest is done.
She takes the first plate that is new to her, lowest item id first, so carry only the kind you want to give her next.

After the quest

The thesis in the library fills in as she goes. Once the fourth story is done all three parts read properly, and the last one tells what she learned, in summary:
  • Juperos was a city of science. The thesis says Juno was once a part of it.
  • A scientist tried to find immortality by working with the power of Ymir's Heart. A mistake in the calibration turned him into the monster now called
    Chimera
, and his test subjects with him.
  • The Chimeras razed the city. A team of scientists saved a fragment of Ymir's Heart and used it to lift part of Juperos into the sky. That part became Juno.
  • The Chimera and the laboratory it came from are said to lie below the ruins.
A new book, "Self-Honesty", appears at once the third story is done. It does nothing for the quest.

Going deeper in the ruins

The "core access" story events are part of the same quest:
  • Light at the entrance. Touching the light at asks if you let it take you. Choose "Ah, it's so nice..." and it warps you to "Inside the Juperos Ruins" at . The other answer throws you back out. If you wait, it takes you after 10 seconds.
  • Three gate switches. On "Inside the Juperos Ruins" three
    Monemus
called Gate Switch stand at , and . Kill all three. The map hears a voice with each one. After the third, a portal opens at that leads to the restricted zone at "Juperos, Restricted Zone" (). It stays open for about 10 minutes, and the switches come back after about 20.
  • Crest Pieces. Four
    Venatu
(Venatu) kinds drop Crest Piece 1, Crest Piece 2, Crest Piece 3 and Crest Piece 4. The Machine Statue at carries a Crest Piece and its arm points west. The restricted zones (jupe_area1, jupe_area2) have devices for these pieces. This page does not cover them yet.

Notes

  • Each story gives 10,000 base EXP.
  • The restricted zones, the elevator and the fourth floor are not described here.
