A translator for the otherworld: Talk to the Mechanic Engineer, Dorance, in the Schwarzwald office of the camp (carry little: he turns you away with a full bag). The Alliance wants a way to speak with the fairies and giants outside the camp. He sends you to the Arunafeltz Linguist on the second floor of the Alliance Headquarters.

The Linguist: The Arunafeltz Linguist, called Dictionary, is a scholar of languages who has heard rumours of a fairy people and a wooden giant people outside the camp. He wants you to listen to both and remember what they say, word for word.
Arunafeltz Linguist: -
Listen to the fairy: Speak to the fairy on the Splendide field (the quest 'Finding a Fairy' from Episode 13.1) and take note of what the fairy says. Same fairy as in the Episode 13.1 chain 'A Fairy and a Tree Giant'.
Small Fairy: -
Listen to the tree giant: Speak to the tree giant on the Manuk field (the quest 'Finding a Tree Giant') and take note of what the giant says.
Tree Giant: -
Write down the words: Back with the Linguist, type the six lines exactly as you heard them, in capitals. The fairy: RLGHLRXLA TKANTLFDMS, then WJACK TNAHRDNJSDMFH, then WLSGHKWND. The giant: TJDTMFJDNS CJFDI, then TKADLFDMF QKATOS, then EKDTLSDML DLFMADMS. If any of the three lines for a people is wrong, he sends you back to listen again. The lines are the whole puzzle: copy them exactly. A trailing '!!' on the last fairy line or '..' on the last giant line is accepted too.

He cannot read it: The Linguist stares at the paper and cannot make sense of the sounds. Talk to him again: he sends you to the Rune-Midgarts Magician, who knows how to record speech.

The Magician and his buried gems: The Rune-Midgarts Magician, called Whisper, wanders the camp. He needs recordings of the fairy and giant voices, and the Assassins who buried his recording gems are busy elsewhere. Ask him about the gems.
Rune-Midgarts Magician: -
Dig up two jewels: Dig out the Red Jewel under the mushroom structure near the fairy village (Half-buried Gem on spl_fild02 at 27,218) and the Blue Jewel under the tree by the giant village (man_fild03 at 227,109), and bring both to Whisper. Each dig has a 1 in 4 chance of success: on a failure ten Thief Bugs come out and the gem pile is unavailable for 5 minutes. Red Jewel: spl_fild02 27,218. Blue Jewel: man_fild03 227,109. Keep room in the bag for 2 items. The gem piles do nothing until you have taken the Magician's request.

Back to the Linguist: Whisper keeps the jewels and says he will send the voice data on. Go and see how the Linguist is doing; he now sends you on to the Mechanic with the problem of how to fit the data into a portable translator.

Dorance has an idea: Tell Dorance the Linguist's problem. He needs a way to store a lot of data in something small, and has heard that Rune-Midgarts magic can lock data into a gem. Ask the Magician for help again.

A mineral for the gem: Whisper needs an ore to hold that much magic: a Unidentified Mineral from the Mysterious Rocks in the cold fields east of the camp (man_fild01 and man_fild03, the same rocks as in the Cat Trading mining quest). Bring one to him. One Unidentified Mineral is taken. He then crafts it into a gem and sends you off to rest.

The crafted gem: Whisper has filled the gem with magic. Talk to him again and take the Crafted Gem to Dorance.

One hour of work: Give the gem to Dorance. He says he needs about one hour of play time to build the machine around it. The hour is counted in online play time (quest log 'Otherworld language' 8253).

The Ring of Wise King: After the hour, talk to Dorance again. He hands over the finished translator, shaped as a ring. Wear the ring to understand the Laphines and Sapha in the Two Tribes chain. Reward: Ring of Wise King, 200,000 base EXP and 5,000 job EXP.
