Offer your help: Visit the Sushi Master Magumagu in Amatsu's sushi house (ama_in01, 162,17). You need about 5,000 free weight. Pick 'Do you need assistance?' (only for classes above Novice). He hands you a random errand. Quest log 10036-10041 holds the current errand.

The errands: Bring him what he asks and talk to him again. One of six requests at random: 10 Candy (15 Raw Fish), 10 Crab Shell (20 Sushi), 10 Conch (30 Sushi), 10 Fish Tail (20 Raw Fish and 30 Sushi), or 1 China (20 Sushi). About one request in a hundred is rare: 100 Hearts of Mermaid. You can ask for a new errand as soon as you finish the last. The 100 Hearts errand gives 50 Raw Fish and 50 Sushi and counts one step towards the knife. Reward: Raw Fish and Sushi (see the list).

The Sushi Master's knife: The 100 Hearts of Mermaid request has to be fulfilled three times. The third time he gives you his knife, a Sashimi, and passes on his art. After that he gives no more errands. The first two give food only. Needs 100 Heart of Mermaid each time. Reward: Sashimi (dagger).
