The wary guard: Rodel the Guard at Port Malaya says villagers feel uneasy around outsiders because evil spirits haunt the town. He sends you to the village leader Phong in Mumbaki, who can vouch for you.
Rodel the Guard: -
Phong in Mumbaki: Phong senses your soul, then calls shadow spirits to test you. They shrink back from you instead. The villagers who saw it now welcome you.
Leader Phong in Mumbaki: -
Villagers who want a button: Frightened villagers ask for something of yours to keep ghosts away: Nardo, Romel, Talah, Woeon, Pandoi and Pedro the Sailor. Talk to them until Nardo tells you to ask Phong what is going on. Five of the six requests are enough for the story to move on.
Old Man Nardo: -
Phong's advice: Tell Phong what happened. He suggests giving the villagers holy items instead of your own things: one Holy Water and one Blue Gemstone for each of them.

Holy items for all six: Give one Holy Water and one Blue Gemstone to each of the six villagers: Nardo, Romel, Talah, Woeon, Pandoi and Pedro the Sailor. That is 6 of each in total.

The village trusts you: Report to Phong. His granddaughter Imelda will make real protective charms, so you need not give away more. Your standing in Port Malaya is set. Reward: base EXP (200,000) and job EXP (200,000).
