Job Change: Become a Rogue

How to change from Thief to Rogue. Reach Job Level 40, pass Markie's knowledge quiz in the Rogue Guild inside Paros Lighthouse, then complete Mr. Smith's field challenge.

You must be a Thief at Job Level 40 or higher to become a Rogue. The Rogue Guild is inside the Paros Lighthouse dungeon. You will answer a knowledge quiz from Markie, then pass a separate challenge run by Mr. Smith.
💡Use all your skill points before visiting. Markie will not start your test if you have unspent points.
Find the Rogue Guildsman Markie inside the Rogue Guild.
The Rogue Guild is inside the Paros Lighthouse dungeon map. Talk to Markie (the Rogue Guildsman) at her desk.
She verifies your job level and name, then starts the quiz test directly.
Pass Markie's quiz.
Markie asks you a series of questions about Rogue and Thief skills, stats, items, and game knowledge. You must answer enough correctly to pass. There are three different question sets and she picks one at random. Topics include:
  • Which Thief skills Rogues inherit
  • How Sword Mastery and Double Attack work with Rogues
  • Where Thieves change jobs (Morocc)
  • Properties of various monster types
  • Which items are used for the Thief job change quest
Answer her questions. If you fail, you can retake the quiz immediately.
Pay the fee and bring Mr. Smith's required items.
After passing Markie's quiz, she sends you to Mr. Smith in the northern section of the guild.
Mr. Smith requires a 10,000 Zeny application fee plus a randomly assigned set of four items. He tells you which set you got. The three possible sets are:
Collect the fee and your assigned items, then return to Mr. Smith. After he accepts them, he sends you on the field challenge: travel through several map warps and complete the route he describes. The route passes through parts of the Comodo field maps.
If you get lost or fail, return to Mr. Smith to restart.
Return to Markie for your job change.
After completing Mr. Smith's challenge, go back to Markie.
She congratulates you and completes your job change.
You are now a Rogue.
Rewards: Rogue class, access to Backstab, Plagiarism, Intimidate, and more 1x Gladius[3] (if Job Level 50) or 1x Gladius

What to do next as a Rogue

  • Plagiarism copies the last skill an enemy used on you. This lets Rogues use skills from other classes, making every build different.
  • Backstab hits from behind with massive damage but requires Hiding to set up.
  • Intimidate teleports you and your target to a random spot on the map, useful for escaping tight spots.
  • At Base Level 99 and Job Level 50, you can transcend to Stalker for full Plagiarism access and Preserve.
💡Copy a skill you actually want. If you fight a monster that uses Fire Bolt, for example, Plagiarism saves it for you to use later against its weaknesses.
