You must be an Acolyte at Job Level 40 or higher to become a Monk. The Monk monastery is on Prontera Field 3, north of Prontera. You will speak with a guarding monk, collect items for Sensei Moohae, visit two more elders, and take a combat trial.
Travel to the Monk Monastery on Prontera Field.
The monastery is north of Prontera on prt_fild03. Enter through the main gate and find Tohobu (the Guarding Monk) at the entrance.
Tell him your name and job level, then say you wish to become a Monk. He will check that your job level is 40 or above, then send you to Sensei Moohae inside.
Collect items for Sensei Moohae.
Go inside the monastery and find Sensei Moohae.
He will give you a random item fetch task. You will get one of several possible sets of three items, for example:
- 5x Sticky Mucus, 10x Earthworm Peeling, 20x Green Herb
- 20x Yoyo Tail, 5x Iron Ore, 3x Blue Herb
- 30x Stem, 5x Jellopy, 10x Worm Peeling
- 5x Cyfar, 10x White Herb, 10x Yellow Herb
(The exact set is random. Sensei Moohae will tell you exactly what you need.)
Collect all items by farming nearby monsters or buying from the market. Return to Moohae when you have them all.
Visit Elder Touha to the northwest.
After delivering items to Moohae, he sends you to Elder Touha in the northwest part of the monastery grounds.
Touha will have a task or question for you. After completing it, he will send you back inside to the next elder.
Visit Elder Boohae and the Door Keeper.
Follow the chain of elders. Find Boohae deeper in the monastery, then speak with the Door Keeper to enter the combat trial area.
The trial involves fighting in the monk test map. Complete the fighting stages and speak with the final proctor.
Return to Sensei Moohae for your promotion.
After passing all stages, go back to Sensei Moohae.
He will perform the job change ceremony and promote you to Monk.

1x Waghnakh (starter claw weapon, or Knuckle Duster if Job Level 50)
What to do next as a Monk
- Asura Strike is the signature Monk skill. One massive SP dump into a single target. Build up with combo skills first.
- Occult Impaction hits enemies based on their DEF, making it very useful against high-defense targets.
- At Base Level 99 and Job Level 50, you can transcend to Champion.
