Job Change: Become a Blacksmith

How to change from Merchant to Blacksmith. Reach Job Level 40, apply in Einbroch, collect random items for Geschupenschte in Einbech, deliver a weapon to Krongast in Lighthalzen, and pass a 5-question smithing quiz.

You must be a Merchant at Job Level 40 or higher to become a Blacksmith. The quest starts in Einbroch and sends you to several NPCs across Midgard with a weapon and a receipt. A written quiz at the end tests your smithing knowledge.
💡Use all your skill points before starting. Guildsman Altiregen in Einbroch will not process your application if you have unspent points.
Apply with Altiregen in the Einbroch Guild.
Travel to Einbroch and find the Blacksmith Guildsman inside the guild building.
Tell him you want to fill out the application. He will accept you if you are Job Level 40 or higher and send you to a Blacksmith named Geschupenschte in Einbech to begin your first task.
Help Geschupenschte in Einbech.
Go to Einbech and find Geschupenschte inside the building to the east of town.
He will assign you a random set of four items to collect. The NPC will tell you exactly which items are needed. The five possible sets are:
Bring all four items to Geschupenschte. He will give you the weapon from your set to deliver, plus a Merchant Voucher (receipt) to carry with you.
Deliver the weapon to Krongast in Lighthalzen.
Geschupenschte tells you to take the weapon to Krongast, who is near the weapon shop in Lighthalzen.
Hand over the weapon. Krongast gives you a Voucher (Merchant Voucher) as the receipt. Carry it back to Geschupenschte in Einbech and give it to him to complete the delivery.
⚠️Do not carry more than one copy of the weapon Geschupenschte gave you. He specifically checks that the one you carry is the NPC-shop version, not a player-crafted one. Keep only the one he gave you.
Return to Altiregen with your results.
Go back to Altiregen in Einbroch. He reviews your progress and advances you to the final stage.
He sends you to Mitehmaeeuh for the written quiz.
Pass the written quiz with Mitehmaeeuh.
Mitehmaeeuh is also inside the Einbroch guild building.
He asks you 5 questions about Blacksmithing. You must score more than 70 points (at least 4 out of 5 correct) to pass. Topics include weapon types, elemental weapons, and smithing materials. After passing, he gives you a Hammer of Blacksmith (item 1005).
Return the Hammer to Altiregen for your job change.
Bring the Hammer of Blacksmith back to Altiregen. He confirms you passed and completes your job change.
You are now a Blacksmith.
Rewards: Blacksmith class, access to Mammonite, Skin Tempering, Weaponry Research, and more 30x Steel (if Job Level 50) or 5x Steel

What to do next as a Blacksmith

  • Weaponry Research passively increases your ATK and lets you enchant weapons. Max it early.
  • Skin Tempering gives you fire and poison resistance, which is very useful for dungeon farming.
  • At Base Level 99 and Job Level 50, you can transcend to Whitesmith for Cart Termination and full crafting access.
💡Blacksmiths can craft elemental weapons for themselves and party members. Look into the Forge skill tree once you settle on your weapon type.
