Game update

Striking, Gloomy Day and Banding reworks

Changes

  • Striking: now adds 20 ATK per skill level, up to +100 (before, it was multiplied by the target's weapon level: up to +500 with a level 5 weapon).

Striking is the Elemental Master buff that raises the weapon ATK and Perfect HIT of you and one party member for 90 seconds, while the buffed player pays some SP every second. Its ATK bonus used to be multiplied by the weapon's level, so at skill level 5 a level 4 weapon got +400 ATK and a level 5 weapon +500. Now it is a flat 20 ATK per skill level, +100 at level 5, whatever weapon you hold. Elemental Masters who carried a high level weapon will see less ATK from it than before.

  • Gloomy Day: now works as its skill description says: the target's skills cost 10 % more SP and take 0.5 s more fixed cast time per Gloomy Day level, and knowing a shield skill no longer makes a player immune (before, the cast time part did nothing and the SP cost went up by the level of the skill being cast, up to double).

Gloomy Day (the game shows it as Gloomy Shyness) is the performance skill that makes the target's skills cost more SP and take longer to cast. You need a musical instrument or a whip, and it only works in PvP and siege areas. Before, the SP part followed the level of the skill being cast instead of Gloomy Day's own level, the fixed cast time part did nothing, and a player who knew a shield skill such as Brandish Spear was not affected at all. Now every Gloomy Day level adds 10 % SP and 0.5 s fixed cast time, as the skill window says. At level 5 a Fire Bolt that cost 30 SP costs 45 SP and takes about 2.7 s more fixed cast time, and shield skills no longer protect anyone.

  • Banding: each party member in range now adds 18 to 30 DEF by skill level, up to +360 (before, a flat 6 per level however many joined).

Banding is the guard skill that raises physical defense when you are in a party, by how many party members stand within 11x11 cells around you. Its DEF bonus used to be a flat 6 per skill level, so a bigger group gained nothing more. Now every party member in range adds 15 DEF plus 3 per skill level, which is 18 at level 1 and 30 at level 5, up to +360 in total. At level 5 with two members in range the bonus went from 30 to 60 DEF.

Fixes

  • Shadow Blacksmith: his info now says the right price, 200,000 zeny per try (it said 20,000).

The Shadow Blacksmith in the Kafra Shop refines shadow gear. His info text said a try costs 20,000 zeny, but he takes 200,000 zeny. The text now says 200,000, so what you read is what you pay. The Refining page lists the same price for shadow weapons and the other shadow slots.

  • Veil Cartographer: the reward menu lines are no longer cut off.

The Veil Cartographer hands out MVP cards for Footprints. His reward menu was too wide for the game window, so the Tier 4 line was cut off in the middle. The four lines are now short enough to read in full: Common, Strong, Elite and Legendary, each with its price. The word Footprints moved into the question above the menu.
